My role

COLORS & TYPOGRAPHY

The colors and fonts of the user interface are in keeping with the grubby, worn-out feel of the game world. Mainly sand and metallic colours predominate, such as brown, grey, off-white and red as a complementary color.

GAME MENU

GAMEPLAY & HUD

The HUD was designed for fast-paced gameplay, containing all critical information. Given the game’s dark and unsaturated visual style, health bars, damage markers, and abilities needed to stand out with vibrant colors and distinctive shapes, ensuring players could quickly recognize and extract essential information.

REWARD & PERKS

After a successful battle, players can select from various rewards that grant active or passive abilities, with chosen rewards activating immediately. Passive traits are stored in the character’s inventory, while active ones appear on the game HUD.

The game features over 110 active and passive skills, with the number continually increasing. When designing these skills, I focused on creating graphics that are easily distinguishable and memorable.

The game offers three options, from which players can choose one and discard the others. As this reward system is critical to gameplay, the interface design had to be intuitive and efficient.

WELL OF TEARS

Several passive rewards are unlocked one after the other as the game progresses. The UI has been adapted to a pleasant, contemplative mood.

WORKSHOP

In the workshop you can create new items, upgrade your character and swap your existing equipment. The right-hand panel contains a description of the item and its properties. Below the image of the item, you will find the materials needed to make the equipment.

INVENTORY

The inventory contains attributes and, all active and passive skills and values, such as Tears of Oblivion, Embers of Dreams, that the player has acquired during the game.

CHARACTER CONCEPT

The game’s hero, Soulslinger, is characterized by an engaging yet tough storyline that balances humor and seriousness, making them relatable to players. I created the concept design, which was later brought to life by a 3D modeller and a texture artist.
