Deck building and card selection were approached as separate processes. An intuitive drag-and-drop system was implemented to increase the efficiency and simplicity of card organization within the interface. Separate tabs for card types and a distinct page for deck building were provided.
It was especially important to plan how the player’s and opponent’s interactions would flow during the fight and to determine what should happen on the interface during each phase of the battle.
Attention had to be paid to the different interfaces of the game to make it simple and easy for the player to navigate and interact with certain elements on consoles.
When designing the cover image, it was key that it fit the narrative of the game. The hero is depicted as constantly on the run from the enemies he will eventually face. This cover image is prominently displayed on stores, on billboards and in various marketing materials.
The rider of death illustration appears when the player loses the battle and dies. You then have to restart the game at that level, and death just laughs…
Illustrations and the storyboard for the cutscene have been animated with more effects and movement.
